We can all admit it; sometimes you want a cookie or a treat. Regardless of how much weight you’ve lost by avoiding those things, sometimes, you just plain want a cookie. That’s totally natural. But—stay strong. You know it’s not worth it. Treats are a slippery slope. One little treat can lead to many, many more treats and then you’re back to square one, and you have to purge and cleanse this stuff from your body again.

Instead, stay clean, eat clean.

Sometimes weight loss patients say, “But I deserve a treat! I’ve been working so hard.” I agree you deserve something. You deserve recognition, you deserve praise, and you deserve respect. But I always tell people, “You’re not a dog. Don’t reward yourself with food.”

Body By Design Health Advice
There are plenty of tasty things to eat and plenty of healthy snacks that won’t leave you feeling dumpy and sick like most sugary, gooey indulgences do.

Here’s a list of go-to snacks that taste good and are still good for you. Healthy snacks trump cookies, candy, and soda pop every time. Give these foods a try and you’re sure to feel better.

Go-To Healthy Snacks

Blueberries

These berries are good for the brain. They help you think clearly, and they contain healthy anti-oxidants. To enjoy blueberries, you don’t really need a recipe. Just wash them off and enjoy them by the handful.

Lemon Tea

You already know the cleansing power of lemon. A great way to kick off the morning or wind down the evening is with a warm cup of lemon tea. Simply squeeze a lemon into warm mineral water and sweeten with a tiny touch of real maple syrup. It’s cleansing and refreshing, and still a bit relaxing. And best of all—it’s much better for you than a cookie.

Chia Seeds

If you’re feeling hungry, or you just need something to curb your hunger, chia seeds are a great go-to snack. There’s nothing wrong with simply swallowing a spoonful of seeds and washing it down with some ice water. The seeds contain healthy amounts of omega 3, plenty of protein, and lots of natural fiber—all for just 70 powerful calories per tablespoon.

If swallowing plain chia seeds isn’t your speed, stir them into almond milk to make a pudding or stir them into fresh fruit pulp to create a compote. Again, it’s a deliciously healthy option to eating a cookie.

Sushi

Sushi, is a guilt-free, healthy food. Check the health food stores for sushi made with brown rice. If you can’t find brown rice sushi, try taking a sushi-making class and learn to roll it yourself. It’s not too tricky ounce you learn how.

Caprese (without cheese)

Skip the pb&j and try a caprese instead. This is the time of year to do it, too. With all the garden tomatoes coming on, your caprese is going to taste much better than any old cookie or packaged snack food.

Wash and slice homegrown, heirloom tomatoes. Layer them with basil leaves and avocado slices (in place of the traditional cheese) and lightly sprinkle with sea salt. Delicious! Enjoy summer.

Healthy Truffles

Sometimes tomatoes and chia seed won’t cut it when you want a treat. If you really need the taste of chocolate in your mouth, try making these healthy, raw truffles.

Pears

When your sweet tooth starts acting up, quiet it with some pears. The brilliant thing about pears is, they are crisp, juicy, and refreshing—but pears have a lower glycemic index than apples. So grab a pear and skip the cookies.

Make note of these snacks and next time you are sure you need a cookie—try one of these seven tasty snacks. You’ll be glad you stayed strong, and you’ll be that much closer to your goal. Great job; keep going!
